KSA #10: LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
I strive to know how to use and engage students in using learning technologies to present and deliver content, communicate effectively with others, find and secure information, research, word process, manage information, and keep records.
ELA 10-2 FAKEBOOK PROFILES- CHARACTER ANALYSIS
During the ELA10-2 novel study unit Fish House Secrets, students developed and updated character 'fakebook' profiles weekly to demonstrate their understanding of the novel's characters, plot, setting, themes, etc. The tool used for the assignment was Fakebook - an online educational program that mimics the popular Facebook.
This program enabled students to create relevant status updates from characters' perspectives, add important images and videos as visual representations of their textual understandings, and illustrate connections between characters. Students were given 3 weeks to develop final versions of the protagonists' profiles (Chad & Jill) in the novel Fish House Secrets.

ELA 10-2 ONLINE JEOPARDY
I created this online jeopardy game to refresh students' memory after a week long Easter break. I modified the game to include 5 teams rather than 2. Each team (4 students) was provided with a mini-whiteboard, a marker, and an eraser. A random name was pulled and the chosen student chose a category and value for all groups to answer on their mini-whiteboards. After 1 min, each group held up their responses on their mini-whiteboards and were awarded points if they answered correctly.
This was an excellent way for students to demonstrate their understanding and comprehension of the text. Working in smaller groups enabled better discussions about the given questions. Students were able to participate more effectively rather than working in two teams as the traditional version of jeopardy entails.
