How do I want to be perceived by my students?

When I begin teaching, I want to be seen as an effective communicator who can share knowledge and facilitate learning in the most impactful ways possible. I strongly believe that a teacher should be able to meaningfully connect with students to address their different needs and celebrate their unique abilities. I want to be able to exude my passion for the Language Arts subject, no matter what grade level by demonstrating appropriate enthusiasm and presence of mind. I also want to be seen as a caring and respectful teacher who consistently maintains a positive learning environment for all  students in my classroom. I want my students to know that I care about them individually and sincerely want their success to go beyond my classroom as they take their learning into other aspects of their lives. In that sense, I want to be perceived as a positive role model who inspires them to be the best version of themselves. I know that this will require me to be patient and persistent in my teaching but I am willing to work hard to embody such attributes so that in turn, students can take on such characteristics towards learning.
As a learner in my first professional semester of Education at the University of Lethbridge, I can practice the attribute of being an effective communicator by expanding my knowledge on various communication strategies that effective teachers use in classrooms. By getting know my peers individually and helping each other succeed together, I am immersing myself in a caring and respectful learning environment that I want to create for my students when I become a teacher. As a PS I student, developing persistence and patience when the workload gets overwhelming will only prepare me for when I will  eventually become accountable for my students’ learning- which I am certain will be even harder work.  By striving to give my 100% effort as a learner this semester and constantly challenging myself, I know I am seeking to be the best version of myself to present to my students in the future.
